Vic: Man guilty of killing stranger had psychiatric illness

The Melbourne Supreme Court's heard a 21-year-old Melbourne man, who shot dead a stranger
who was trying to hitch a lift, was mentally ill and had a deprived childhood.

MEHMET INCE, of the inner western suburb of Flemington, has been sentenced to 15 years'
jail, with a non-parole minimum of 10 years.

Mr INCE, who came to Australia from Turkey in 1995, was found guilty of murdering 26-year-old
IAN BROADBENT, who had clung to the moving car in which Mr INCE was a passenger on December
14, 1997.
